Our Story

“A house without a dog is like a body without a heart.”
Foto

Dogs have always had a special place for both of us. One of  us always has been in the company of a faithful four-legged friend by his side since childhood.

The other alsways have been active in dog sports since he was a teenager. And actually always worked in the animal industry. As manager of a pet shop and for many years now as a veterinary assistant in an animal clinic.
At the end of 2005 we went together for the first time to the Winner Show in Amsterdam to take a good look at the different breeds. Although we both love dogs, we had very different ideas about the type of dog we wanted by our side. One again went for his childhood love, the dachshund. The other was crazy about greyhounds. You couldn't imagine a more diverse combination...

Or until... we saw the Irish Setters. With a little imagination, the Setter identifies within himself the outward appearances of a dachshund and whippet. Our hearts were ultimately stolen by their cheerfulness, the incessant wagging tail, but certainly also their noble appearance.

However, we lived in the center of Amsterdam, on the third floor with steep stairs... a hunting dog was not an ideal choice for us... But as is often the case, these kinds of things keep playing in the back of your mind and unconsciously our desire for an Irish dog grew. Setter.

A year later, we went to the Winner Show again and again our hearts beat faster at the sight of the Irish, all our arguments for not getting a dog melted like snow in the sun. When one of those belligerents even crawled onto our lap, amid all the noise of the largest dog show in the Netherlands, we were sold!

There we were, madly in love with those red devils. Not knowing that this would be the start of a whole new life....
We then quickly started looking for an Irish Setter, which became our Meagan. And those stairs? That was quickly resolved because where there is a will, there is a way. We have always carried her upstairs and downstairs from a little puppy to a fully grown teenager... at least about five times a day without any comment. What we could not have known in advance is that we would also make dear friends through our love for this breed. These friends ultimately made our hearts beat faster for the English Setter.

After living in Amsterdam for another two years, we moved, with the dogs in mind, to a much more spacious place in Muiden... Yes, who would be crazy enough to move for their dog... we So! Even our beloved city had to make way for a bigger dream, setting up our own kennel! This is how "Blazing Bronze Setters" was born.

The dogs have now become "A Way of Live" for us. For us, breeding purebred dogs goes further than "producing" dogs. We see ourselves as the guardian of our two races. Responsible breeding where Health, Well-being and Character come first. Because this is the only way to enjoy the Irish and English Setter for a long time to come. The two breeds that we love so incredibly. When creating a combination, everything must come together without having to make any concessions. Read more at puppies.

Our pack now consists of a large number of dogs and we also have a number of dogs together with enthusiastic Blazing Bronze Specials owners. With these dogs we are active in canine science at home and abroad. We have bred several Champions in both the show ring and in the field. Maintaining multiple dogs is intensive but has also taught us a lot, which made us decide to start a grooming salon a few years ago. So you have also come to the right place for coat care and not just for a Setter, take a look at Care take.

We invite you to take a further look at our website. Via the tabs below you can read about Setters in general, or get to know our dogs. We hope that you get a good idea of the two Setter variants and all our experiences with them. You are cordially invited to contact us to get acquainted.

Kind regards,

Gideon & Gideon (Yes! You read that right....)
